Bug fixes and slight refinements


First off, sorry for the break. The last series of months have been challenging and my development has been stalled. 

Never the less I've managed a few sessions across the previous months. 

What's new, 

  •  Menu has expanded a bit
    • You can now access the "story mode" from start game. This will run through the first 5 levels sequentially.
    • There's an endless mode
    • You can also select level, from which it will continue through the first 5 levels.
  • Story has been changed. The original narrative was hitting a deadend and wasn't as fun as I originally intended. So I've changed the narrative
  • Shop owner character has been introduced - he will act as the tutorial and serve to punctuate the levels.
  • Some code has been re-written for streamlining sake
  • Rearranged the counter slightly to move the sink to the opposite side of the espresso machine, this synergises with cup collisions on the counter
  • If a drink placed down while a drink is waiting to be collected it will displace the older drink - if the older drink is in a take-away cup it drops to the ground, if it's a drink in cup then it is made dirty and moved to the left of the machine waiting to get washed up.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue whereby a player could make a level unplayable by locking out clean drink in cups - now fixed.
  • Toasters now make toasties as opposed to just toasting forever
  • Customers no longer trip eachother up as they walk in...I hope
  • Level progression now works

Known Bugs & Issues

  • The dialogue boxes can be a little obtrusive during the first level, handling needs to be sorted out for these
  • It's possible to start the influx of customers while unable to access the machine
  • There's a lot of room for polish in the presentation - this will be addressed later.
  • There was an attempt to make the customers become visably angry if they're left waiting for too long. This has been implemented but I'm not happy with it at the moment.

Next steps

  • Save system - I've started this, but want to implement a level unlock system
  • Character creator - Currently player char rerolls it's colours on every level, a relic of the "quantum leap" story idea. I want to make this more customisable.
  • Finish development of levels. The plan is for 10 levels, progressing with more customers and a varient customer which will add further challenge. Unlocking items in level progression will unlock them in endless mode. 
  • Polish, animate, add sound. A good chunk of this will be in the very final versions approaching final release.
  • Endless mode may be reworked into build your own scenario. A
  • A pause menu would be nice

With my personal circumstances changed to hopefully give me more time and energy to sit down and code again I hope to get some inertia on this again and push to v1.0 before the dawn of the next epoch.

As ever this has been a project to develop my skills and knowledge, outside of this I'm a humble retail worker who misses working in coffee, every download of this makes me happy and I'd love to hear constructive feedback and if you find any bugs please let me know in the commends below so I can try to address them.
